Please share our work
Our mission depends on people spreading the word. You are welcome to share, quote, print, and link to the Site’s issue summaries, bill trackers, the 12 Points of Good Governance, and our campaign materials for non-commercial civic purposes, as long as you credit “Civestor Advocacy” and link to civestoradvocacy.org.
Please don’t edit our materials in a way that changes their meaning, or present them as coming from or endorsed by another person or group.
Ownership and trademarks
The Site’s content, design, graphics, video, and source code are © 2026 Daniel Devine and Civestor Advocacy. All rights not granted above are reserved.
CIVESTOR™, CIVEST™, CIVESTMENT™, the Civestor Advocacy name, logo, “the Wheel,” and the slogan “Civestors Civest, be one!” identify our organization and may not be used for another organization, product, campaign, or fundraising effort, or in any way that suggests our endorsement, without written permission.
Without permission, you may also not copy the Site’s code or design to build another website or app, or use our content for commercial purposes.
Information and accuracy
Bill status, roll-call votes, and legislator information come from public sources, including the New York State Legislature and Open States, and may change or contain errors. Our issue pages express Civestor Advocacy’s positions. Nothing on the Site is legal advice.
Privacy
What we collect. When you submit the Take Action form, we receive your name, email address, and message through Netlify, our hosting provider. When you use a bill tracker or representative lookup, the address you enter is sent to our CivicSphere lookup service and public data providers (the U.S. Census Bureau and Open States) only to find your districts. Address lookups are not stored.
Petitions. When you sign a petition, we receive your first and last name, email address, ZIP code, and optional comment through Netlify Forms. We deliver signers’ names and ZIP codes, organized by district, to the officials the petition addresses. Your email address is used only to contact you about your signature if needed and, if you check the box, to send you campaign updates. It is never delivered to officials, shared, or sold.
Text messages. If you check the text-updates box and give your mobile number, you agree to receive recurring campaign updates and action alerts from Civestor Advocacy, up to 4 messages a month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Consent is never required to sign a petition. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or text-messaging consent with anyone, including candidates, campaigns, or other organizations, except service providers that send texts on our behalf.
Letter counts. When you write to a legislator from one of our bill trackers and confirm that you sent it, we add one to a public count for that bill and legislative district. Only the count is stored, not your name, address, email, or letter.
How we use it. We use your contact information to respond to you and, if you’ve asked to get involved, to send you updates about our campaigns. You can ask us to stop at any time.
What we don’t do. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with candidates, campaigns, or other organizations without your permission.
Your choices. To see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to unsubscribe, contact us through the Take Action form.
App and offline use. If you install the Civestor Advocacy app, your device stores copies of our pages so they load offline. That data stays on your device.
Political disclaimer
